Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a unique, quality Shure Brothers dynamic cardioid microphone from the 1980’s that has been cleaned and tested. This is a later Mexican made PE85L model that was factory set at low impedance. It comes with an original Shure mic clip and vinyl Shure mic pouch. This mic looks very similar in shape and size to the far more common SM-58. It has the built in on / off switch and grey / green painted finish. This mic has more of a mid range tone despite it’s low Z setting as where the SM-58 was very heavy on the bass. I don’t have any literature on this mic and this model was probably was only sold for a few years before being discontinued. The Low Z setting would have made this mic ideal for general broadcasting or most any vocals. Excellent uni-directional characteristics as well. If you have a deep voice like mine then this would sound pretty good. The mic has 100% output with zero issues. The on / off switch works perfectly and the XLR pins were cleaned for a perfect connection once the cable is attached. The PE85L is an all metal design with a painted body and is about average in weight. The mic is appx 6 1/2 inches long X 2 inches wide at the front grill. As you can see there are typical lite signs of wear on the original painted handle. A heavier scuff mark on the handle but zero fractures or corrosion. The front grill looks really nice with zero dents or odors. The Shure label looks very nice and completely legible. The inner foam insert / pop filter is new and in great condition. I usually replace these as the older ones are in rough and degraded condition. It helps greatly with acoustics and prevents the dreaded “pops” from breathing or windy conditions. Microphone is a very conservative 8 on a scale of 1 – 10 physically speaking. The real beauty of this mic is the sound it produces. Hook this one up and you are ready for any live event. MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY…NOT PART OF THIS SALE. The mic clip is an original Shure model and works great giving the mic a wide range of tilt up and down. Very lite cosmetic wear. It will screw on to any American desk or floor stand. The Shure vinyl mic case is included and in excellent condition. Zipper works great and will protect your mic while not in actual use. Mic takes a standard XLR cable to operate but none is included. And as always… I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not…I have a no hassle return policy. The return shipping will be on you as I believe that’s fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition…period. Check my rating.
