For RS and LRS series 15W to 150W… click here The LRS series are low-cost mains AC to low voltage DC, quality power supplies… why are they so low-cost? It’s because they do NOT have active Power Factor Correction (see the explanation below) and can be made much more simple in design! The LRS series of power supplies have higher output current, are smaller in height with wider temperature operation and more efficient… up to 40% less heat dissipated! They also provide more than double the MTBF (Mean Time Before Failure) of other units. The LRS-350 (with higher output current) is a drop-in replacement for the RSP-320. BUT note that the RSP units provide active Power Factor Correction (PFC) and do not need a voltage doubling 115VAC-230VAC switch (most RSP units have remote ON/OFF and all provide output voltages of 7.5V, 13.5V and 27V). Also note that these Meanwell power supplies provide a DC “regulated” output and those less than 12V do not supply the wattage as suggested in the part no. (e.g. the LRS-200-3.3 provides 3.3V at 40A hence it supplies 3.3 x 40 = 132 Watts max. not 200 Watts). Voltages of 13.8V, 18V, 27.6V, 32V, 40V are possible. NOTE: Meanwell sets all voltages at 50% output current… an insulated pot adjust tool is recommended… connecting to ALL output terminals is recommended as damage to terminals or the PCB can occur otherwise! The Meanwell LRS-200 has hiccup current limiting on overload with automatic recovery (except LRS-200-48), plus OVP Over Voltage Protection and OTP Over Temperature Protection and a 3 year Australian warranty. Note the mention that cheap power supplies often DO NOT provide the full output voltage up to the specified output current! A word of caution here! In Australia the mains voltage is 240VAC compared to the USA of 115VAC. Power supplies (especially “no name” Chinese brands such as “Landy”) may be fine in the USA but may not be safe to use in Australia. Why risk it? Buy a quality power supply such as “Mean Well”. There are so many testimonials on the web for Creality Ender 3D printers having problems with the installed unit, I’d be thinking about exchanging it too. As far as I can see, the Chinese SMPS has a standard 1nF 1kV suppression condenser between primary and secondary side instead of a safety self-healing one. This is a death trap, because it tends to fail dead short at overvoltage condition. Short kV spikes are quite common in mains – tens to hundreds a day – so if you have connected anything referenced to ground (even capacitive coupling is enough) to the output of such SMPS, the cap breaks down, leaving your secondary circuit galvanically connected to Live wire. The SMPS does not stop working, everything seems fine, only the trap is armed and waiting for it’s prey”. What does this mean? You will not be able to use as many LRS power supplies on the one AC mains circuit and, of course, higher current means higher losses! i.e. wasted power.
