CARL ZEISS ULTRON 50MM 1.8 MINT- 9-9-9. AS IS. INCLUDES A CANON EOS (EF) ADAPTER. NEAR PERFECT. THE HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER ULTRON HAS NEARLY PERFECTLY CLEAR OPTIC. IF YOU LOOK AT UNDER CERTAIN LIGHTING CONDITIONS THERE APPEARS TO BE COATING DEGRADATION ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE FIRST ELEMENT, OR MAYBE SEPARATION. 9 POINTS. I CAN’T IMAGINE IT AFFECTING IMAGE QUALITY MUCH BECAUSE ON FIRST GLANCE THE LENS LOOKS ABSOLUTELY PRISTINE. FUNCTIONALLY IT EXHIBITS SOME MINIMAL OIL ON APERTURE SO OCCASIONALLY IT MIGHT BE SLUGGISH IF USING IT ON AN ICAREX CAMERA WITH AUTOMATIC APERTURE. THIS WILL NOT AFFECT ITS USE ON DIGITAL! 9 POINTS. COSMETICS ARE FINE WITH MINIMAL NOTICABLE USAGE OR HANDLING WEAR. 9 POINTS. MINT MINUS LENS. INCLUDES THE PROPER ZEISS IKON LENS CAP FOR THE LENS. NOTE THE ICAREX LENSES DO NOT HAVE FILTER THREADS. RATHER, A BAYONET MOUNTING SYSTEM WAS USED. TWIST THE LENS CAPS A HALF A TURN COUNTERCLOCKWISE TO REMOVE. I HAVE SEEN A MULTITUDE OF BROKEN ICAREX CAPS BECUSE PEOPLE DON’T KNOW THIS AND TRY TO FORCE THEM. CAP IS MINT. LENS WILL INCLUDE THE ICAREX TO CANON ADAPTER AND A CANON BASE CAP. Please remember that these are VINTAGE items, many near 50 years old or older. How I rate lenses: I evaluate on a 30 point system, with 10 points each given for Optics*, Function and Cosmetics. Mint. 30 points An item that looks as it did when taken from manufacturers packaging. This may include minor dust in optics (which is true of any new lens even today!) Mint minus: 28-29 May have tiny flaws perceptible only upon close inspection such as minor coating damage, slightly stiff focus ring or mm size marring in cosmetics. Excellent Plus 25-27 A small flaw may be apparent. No major issue with optical, function or appearance. e.g. a dent in the barrel or small scratch near the edge of a lens element. Excellent 22-24 More than 1 flaw of nominal issue. Significant cosmetic wear may be apparent. Optically and functionally very good. Detailed scientific comparison may find minor differences in photos as compared to mint example. Excellent minus 19-21 Allows a single significant flaw to cosmetic such as functional but dented filter ring or minor flaw in optics or function eg slightly slow aperture blades, obvious coating damage or significant dust inclusion. Good 16-18 additional degradation to cosmetics or multiple minor issues with function or optics but still takes very good photos. Good minus 13-15 At this rating more significant issues will be apparent. eg Missing focus ring leather, stiff spots in focus throw make focusing difficult, aperture not fully functional. Needs Work 10-12 Might function in a limited fashion, but could use some TLC eg Focus extremely stiff, aperture blade out of place possibly missing portions of original functional parts but still possibly usable on digital (with some creativity) As Is 0-9 Will need significant parts and or repair to function or usable only for parts. I only ship international if buyer agrees to pay whatever additional shipping charge is needed. NO RETURN ON INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING UNLESS BUYERS PAYS SHIPPING. The most ebay has available for lowly folk like me is a 3 day turnaround for shipping and handling. Sometimes that is insufficient. Do not buy just to try. I will NOT take a lens back because YOU THINK the haze or dust is worse than a eg a 25 point lens.
