QUALITY, it works!Power Gate Battery Backup Automatic DC Power Switching System for Repeaters What this does is automatically switch your repeater (or any load 13.8 vdc up to 30 amps) from your normal power supply to your battery when your 12 volt DC power supply or AC power fails to your 12 volt DC power supply. It is NOT to switch from one 12 vdc battery to another 12 vdc battery. Why not? Because a 12 volt battery slowly drains and the voltage down to 9 volts or so will still keep the relay engaged! This is intended for a complete loss of 12 vdc on the yellow terminals as would be typical if wall power operated 12 volt power supply either fails or ac power to your power supply fails. There are some products out there using solid state devices that are subject to losses, heating, failure and cost up to $140!!! Why do you think the other guys use a massive heatsink on their solid state product? Because they need to dissipate heat. HEAT = POWER LOSS! This system does not suffer from any of those problems. Designed for 13.8 VDC (11-15 volt type) equipment, such as radios, accessories, lighting, etc Maximum current 30 amps can be operated and switched Has Anderson Power Poles on all three connections (power supply, load, battery connections). No problem, just do the buy it now and tell me what size bolt for ring terminals (up to 5/16 bolt) and which color wire set (PS, load or battery wires) to have PP or ring or plain wire Or We can leave this with no connectors on any or all lead set (Power supply source – Load or Battery), let us know immediately if you want any leads with no connectors, let us know immediately (if no, message, you will get the standard build WITH Power Poles). How to use this: A typical use would be that you have an Amateur (Ham) radio station that you want to have automatic battery back up switching. Connect YELLOW wire set to YOUR 13.8 VDC power supply (like the Samlex SEC-1235M that we sell here on eBay) Connect BLUE wire set to your repeater (radios, etc that run on your 13.8 VDC power supply) Connect RED wire set to YOUR 12 VDC battery Has mounting tab if you wish to mount it. When your power supply fails or AC power fails to your power supply, the relay automatically switches your repeater (radios, etc) to your battery. When AC power to your power supply returns, the relay then switches back to operate your equipment on the power supply as normal. Note: this is a relay with less than 10 ms switching time. Some radios may interpret this momentary loss of power and restart. Remember, the alternative is much more expensive, so you decide whether saving lots of money is worth this small caveat, you understand and accept this. Also remember, a power failure happens very infrequently, so why spend more than you need to to accomplish the job? Simple, inexpensive and it works! Get two or three for all of your 13.8 VDC up 30 amp needs. It’s a simple design but lots of work to put together. To make this, we strip 11 wire ends and professionally crimp 6 Anderson Power Poles, insert into the plastic ends and then connect the grounds. You get a lot for this price! There is no battery charging with this system, most guys prefer their own charging system and we did not add that because we don’t know what type of battery you will use. Just use a float charger that is suitable for the battery you are using. Personally, I use a cheap Harbor Freight $9 battery charger on my own repeater, available from Harbor Freight Tools.
