Here is an excellent natural fossil fish plate from the world-famous fossil beds of Fossil Lake, Green River Formation, Wyoming. From the Gastropod Layer, known for the dark, almost black fossil fish, as well as gastropods. From the Eocene, 52 million years ago. These 3 fish are all large examples of Knightia and Diplomystus, fossil fish found in the ancient lake. The largest fish measures about 5.5 inches. The Diplomystus died with a gastropod beneath its abdomen. All of these fish are in-Situ, or in their original resting place, with no restoration or repair. Each has been professionally covered with a clear protectant. The gastropod layer plate is about 12″ by 12″ (slightly varies) and weighs 9 lbs. 3.4 oz.We invite you to visit our store.
